Greater Manchester Police are seeking two men after a 93-year-old woman was attacked in broad daylight.

Thugs pounced on the frail victim at 11: 55 a.m. at a bus stop on Turf Lane in Chadderton, Oldham, on August 16th.

The elderly woman was dragged to the ground as they attempted to snatch her handbag, “banging her head and leaving her with multiple injuries to her head, knees and hands.”

Detective Sergeant Alex Wilkinson from Greater Manchester Police described the shocking incident as “a violent, cowardly attack on an elderly woman.”

Wilkinson said it was “hard to imagine what kind of individual would target a vulnerable member of the community and leave them with multiple injuries,” observing that the attack “could have had much graver consequences.”

“It is only due to the remarkable strength of the victim that she has been able to leave hospital and continue her recovery at home,” the officer added.

Greater Manchester Police say they are “following numerous lines of enquiry to trace the offenders” but are urging anyone who recognises two men they wish to speak to in connection with the incident, pictured, to come forward.

“Perhaps you were in the area at the time and captured dash cam footage that may help us,” Detective Sergeant Wilkinson added.

“The incident occurred at a bus stop served by the number 81 bus and it’s possible that users of this bus may have seen the men in these pictures.

“If you can help; don’t hesitate to call us.”

Greater Manchester Police advise that information can be passed to them by calling 0161 85 68962/69063 or 68999, quoting incident number 852 of 16/08/18.

People can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
