The Obama Administration Rejects Levy Report, Opposes Israel

As we creep closer to the November elections, the Obama administration continues to oppose Israel at almost every turn. Most recently they’ve done this by openly rejecting the positions set forth in a report by former Israeli Supreme Court Justice Edmund Levy.

According to the Levy report, “Israel does not meet the criteria of ‘military occupation’ as defined by international law” regarding their presence in Judea and Samaria (i.e. the West Bank). The Obama administration responded to this assertion: “We do not not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlement activity and we oppose any effort to legalize settlement outposts.”

For those of us who may have forgotten, we were proudly allied to Israel prior to January 2009, but Obama has done his level best to downplay that relationship since taking office. The good news is that Gov. Romney promises to restore the ties between the U.S. and Israel upon taking office.

Later in July, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be visiting Israel. It will be interesting to see if she shows Israel even greater disrespect by calling the report into question while in the Jewish state.
