On the heels of a report stating Israel would postpone attacks on Iran if the US put “red lines” in place for Iran, Sec. of State Clinton says no red lines will be set.
Clinton said that while the administration is watching Iran “very carefully,” they continue to believe sanctions can get the job done if applied correctly.
Said Clinton: “We’re convinced we have more time to focus on these sanctions, to do everything we can to bring Iran to a good-faith negotiation. It’s a very challenging effort to get them to move in a way that complies with their international obligations. But we believe that is still…the best approach.”
And in other news, on the same day Clinton made her announcement, Iranian President Ahmadinejad told senior Hamas official Mahmoud Zahar that “arrogant powers and enemies of nations are trying to manage the developments in the region so as to save the Zionist regime [from obliteration].” He urged Zahar not to be tricked in sparing the “Zionist regime.”
