Israeli Mother Fights Off Terrorist, Saves Two Young Children

Remember the brutal slaughter of the Fogel family in Itamar, Israel in 2011 when Palestinian terrorists murdered the family of five, including one infant, while they were sleeping in their beds, stabbing them to death, and Gazans celebrated by passing out sweets?

Round two came on Monday, but this time there was a different outcome. In the community of Sdei Avraham, close to the Gaza border, a young Israeli mother, Yael Matzpun, was sleeping with her four-year-old daughter and two-year-old son but awoke when she heard heavy footsteps in the hall. Her husband, an IDF officer, was not at home.

Matzpun said: “Suddenly I saw a terrorist in a kefiyyeh standing opposite me. I decided that if I didn’t fight, he would murder me and my four children, there would be a massacre, like in Itamar, where the Fogels and three of their children were murdered in their home.”

The terrorist, who had a knife in one hand and a metal pipe in the other, lunged at Matzpun, stabbing her in the face and shoulder. But Yael Matzpun was trained in Krav Maga, Israeli military hand-to-hand combat. She drove him into the bathroom and locked him in, while pushing her young children to safety. Then she called for help.

When IDF forces arrived they saw the terrorist escaping through a bathroom window. They chased after him and tried to arrest him, but he wouldn’t drop his weapons, whereupon they opened fire, killing him.

Matzpun’s father said proudly, “The terrorist fell into the wrong woman’s hands… Even when she was a young girl, she would hug me like a vice… After she learned Krav Maga she was always able to take down thugs.”
