Far left suicide bomber attacks U.S. embassy in Ankara Turkey
Ecevit Sanli, a member of the far-left terrorist RevolutionaryPeople’s Liberation Party/Front (DHKP/C), detonated a suicide vest onFriday at the entrance of the U.S. Embassy in Ankara, Turkey. Embassysecurity had been increased since the embassy attack in Benghazi, andso the Sanli was stopped at the first of a series of checkpoints as heattempted to enter the embassy. As a result, there was only one deathbesides the bomber — the Turkish guard at the first checkpoint.Police detained nearly 100 DHKP/C members last month, and 55 of themwere arrested pending trial on accusations of being members of aterrorist organization. Police seized a large number of documents fromthe addresses of the suspects, which revealed the group’s plans toassassinate politicians, judges, prosecutors and police officers.There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack. It’s notknown whether the terrorist attack is related to the conflict inSyria, or to the batteries of Nato’s Patriot anti-missile missilesbeing installed on Turkey’s border with Syria. With Russia’s population having suffered a devastating decline inrecent years, president Vladimir Putin is looking for new ways topromote his fertility campaign, to get Russian couples to have moresex and more kids. Putin’s latest attempt to inspire men and womencomes just before Valentine’s day, as the Western R&B trio Boyz II Menwill perform a selection of their classic and new romantic ballads ina concert in Moscow on February 6. Rumors are that they may write anew song about Moscow. Moscow Times
