France to Enter Recession in 2013

(AFP) France is set to slide into recession this year with negative growth of 0.1 percent and unemployment rising to 10.9 percent in 2014 after 10.6 percent this year, the European Commission said Friday in its spring forecasts.

The Commission also released a bleak picture of the country’s public deficit, projecting an increase from 3.9 percent of GDP this year to 4.2 percent next year compared with government forecasts of 3.7 this year and 2.9 percent in 2014.
