Lindsey Graham Diminishes Horrors of Holocaust by Comparing Putin and Hitler

In an unfortunate diminishment of the Holocaust, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham (R) nonchalantly compared Russian President Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler. The comments came during a recentinterview on MSNBC where Graham discussed boycotting the Olympic gamesif Russia were to give asylum to Edward Snowden.

“If you could go back in time, would you have allowed Adolf Hitlerto host the Olympics in Germany,” said Graham. His statement came afterhe said he did not approve of much of what Russia was doing around theworld.

Adolf Hitler’s Holocaust resulted in the death of approximately six million Jews and others. The New York Times writes:

AsGermany invaded and began occupying European neighbors, the use ofcamps and ghettos was expanded to confine and sometimes kill not onlyJews but also homosexuals, Gypsies, Poles, Russians and many otherethnic groups in Eastern Europe.

The victims were forced into work and extermination camps, where themajority were starved and gassed, then buried in opengraves. Experiments were performed on the men, women, and children, including tests to find the thresholds of humanendurance to pain. As the New York Times writes regarding the sheernumbers of camps and facilities used by the Germans in the Holocaust:

The numbers astound: 30,000 slave labor camps; 1,150 Jewishghettos; 980 concentration camps; 1,000 prisoner-of-war camps; 500brothels filled with sex slaves; and thousands of other camps used foreuthanizing the elderly and infirm, performing forced abortions,

Senator Graham then went on FOX News and made the comparison again, though this time he stated Putin’s aligning Russia with Iran was the reason for the boycott. He continued to compare Putin with Hitler during the exchange.
