Peace Talks Meeting Canceled After Israeli Forces Defend Themselves

The Palestinian Authority canceled a meeting with Israeli peace negotiators after Israeli security forces allegedly killed three Palestinians after coming under attack.

The meeting scheduled for August 26.

According to The Jerusalem Post, earlier on Monday Israeli security forces went to “Kalandiya near Ramallah to arrest a security suspect” and came under “a large scale attack by hundreds of Palestinians.” As a result, “three rioters were reportedly killed.”

Because of this, the peace talks scheduled to take place in Jericho have been canceled.

A spokesman for Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas said the killings of the protesters together with Israel’s continuing settlement plans “are a clear message of Israeli intentions toward the peace process.”

Palestinian news agency WAFA reports the in addition to the three killed, another 15 protesters were wounded.
