Al-Shabab Spokesman: 'There Are Jewish And American Shops, So We Have to Attack Them'

According to Sheikh Abulaziz Abu Muscab, the spokesman for military operations at the Al-Shabab terrorist group responsible for the massive attack on a mall in Nairobi, Kenya, the rationale for the attack was simple: go after American and Jewish targets. Abu Muscab told Al-Jazeera, “The place we attacked is Westgate shopping mall. It is a place where tourists from across the world come to shop, where diplomats gather. It is a place where Kenya’s decision-makers go to relax and enjoy themselves. Westgate is a place where there are Jewish and American shops. So we have to attack them.” At least three Americans recruited to Al-Shabab have been linked to the attacks.
