Working at a morgue in Siberia, a man acquired a taste for human flesh, an item not served on many restaurant menus. However, the cannibal was able to fulfill his bizarre craving by regularly eating body parts of his lover, whom he had murdered and concealed in the nearby woods.
Having stabbed his common law wife twice in the neck after an argument, he confessed to police in May that he had hidden her body in a forest outside of the Siberian town of Aksarka. The man journeyed into the woods on a number of occasions to dine on parts of the corpse. The police said the man admitted that he developed his fondness for eating humans when he worked at the morgue.
On Monday, a Russian court in the northern region of Yamalo-Nenets found him to be sane and guilty of murder and sentenced him to nine years in a penal colony.
