Italian city revokes permit for sex toy Christmas tree

MILAN, Italy, Dec. 13 (UPI) —
An Italian city revoked a permit for a Christmas tree decorated in sex toys, ordering the entrepreneur behind the tree to have it taken down.

Norma Rossetti, co-owner of adult commerce site Mysecretcase.com, said she paid nearly $5,500 for the permit to have the tree displayed on a Milan street, but the city has revoked her permit and ordered her to remove the tree as soon as possible, ANSA reported Friday.

Rossetti said she doesn’t think she’ll be able to remove the tree within the next 20 days and she has started a “Save the Milan sex-toy tree” online campaign to try to get city officials to change their minds.

Rossetti said her company wanted the tree displayed in Milan because of the city’s reputation as “the design mecca that pushes young people to be creative. Our products are also design objects.”

Carlo Fidanza, a member of the European Parliament from the center-right Brothers of Italy party, criticized city officials for “incompetence and hypocrisy.”
