30 Missing After Fire at Seniors' Residence in Canada

L’ISLE-VERTE, Quebec, Jan. 23 (UPI) —
Fire demolished a seniors’ residence Thursday Quebec, Canada, leaving three people dead and 30 unaccounted for, officials said.

Firefighters said they received a call about the fire at La Residence du Havre in L’Isle-Verte approximately 12:30 a.m., local time.

The flames were under control by about 6 a.m., leaving behind only the frame of the building in some places, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

Some 50 to 60 people lived at the residence, nine of whom were taken to a hospital in Riviere-du-Loup. Three people died and about 30 were missing.
