Popularity of Guns, Shooting Surges at Swedish Gun Club

A gun club with an indoor shooting range in Stockholm, Sweden, is witnessing an unprecedented growth in the popularity of guns and shooting.

The range is called The Target, and there has been “a four-fold increase” in the number of shooters visiting it compared to when its doors opened in 2007.

According to The Local, people who did not even know “that they had pistol ranges in Sweden” are coming out to shoot for the first time. In fact, range owner Thomas Amnebring said, “Ninety-five percent of the people who visit The Target have never fired or held a gun before.”

Amnebring said more and more women are also coming to range. Last year “45 percent of customers were women.”

He said the range is also a popular stop for bachelor parties and CEOs who come “to relax.”

Customers who visit The Target can choose between shooting “.44 Magnums, Sig Sauers, Glocks… Walther PPKs, and Colt 1911s.”
