Malaysia Police Chief: Terror Arrests Not Connected to Flight MH370

The Malaysian Inspector General of Police, Khalid Bakar, says the recent arrests of “11 alleged militants” is not connected to the disappearance of Flight MH370.

According to NBC News, the suspects were “[detained] in the Kedah and Selangor regions last week.” They were “all aged between 22 and 55.”

Bakar said: “There is absolutely no connection between the arrests and Flight MH370.”

The alleged insurgents were arrested on suspicion of having “links to terror networks in Syria and southern Philippines.” The were also suspected of “planning to send Malaysian fights to Damascus.”

The arrests came “on the same day as the first funeral for passengers missing on the flight.”
