John Kerry: 'Raw Data' Indicates Syria Used Chemical Weapons 'in Recent Months'

After a May 15 meeting with Syrian opposition leaders, Secretary of State John Kerry said he has personally seen “raw data” which indicates the Syrian government “has used chlorine gas as a chemical weapon… in recent months.”

He said this has happened in a “number of instances” but does not want to provide specifics and thus lock the U.S. “down [on] a precise date, time, [or] manner of action.”

According to The Washington Post, Kerry is responding to this news by “expanding humanitarian, diplomatic, and military aid to the rebels.”

Kerry added, “I’m not going to discuss to what specific weapons or what country may… be providing or not providing [the arms]. I will say that out of today’s meeting, every facet of what can be done is going to be ramped up. Every facet.”
