June 15 (UPI) — One child is dead and three other people are injured after a gunman opened fire at a shopping center near Denver on Thursday.
The injured include a child and two adults. Police have not yet publicly identified the victims but said there was no relation between them and the gunman, the Denver Post reported.
The suspect is in custody but police have not released his name or possible motive, KKTV reported.
“As soon as we are able, we will release additional information regarding this case,” Westminster police said in a statement.
Witness Shaun Lucius told 9News-TV that he heard seven or eight “deliberate” gunshots before he saw a man running away from the scene of the shooting.
“Like somebody was taking their time aiming at whatever they were shooting at,” Lucius said. “It wasn’t like they were out there just shooting at targets.”
