Spain vows legal challenge to Catalan vote commission

The Spanish government vowed Friday to mount a legal challenge to Catalan leaders’ latest move for a vote on independence, by appealing against the creation of an electoral commission for the ballot.

Government lawyers will ask the Constitutional Court to suspend the move by Catalan regional leaders, Spain’s Deputy Prime Minister Soraya Saenz de Santamaria told a news conference.
