Cowboys won't penalize Spillman unless charged

The Dallas Cowboys won’t take any action against safety CJ Spillman unless the sexual assault probe involving him results in an arrest or a criminal charge, coach Jason Garrett said Thursday.

“You have to be careful with just accusations and allegations in this situation,” Garrett said.

“When someone is officially charged or arrested for something, that’s when it becomes a different situation in our minds.

“For now, he’s a member of our football team and will take part in everything we do to this point.”

No charges have been filed and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident that allegedly occurred at the Gaylord Texan Resort in suburban Grapevine, Texas.

Police Sergeant Robert Eberling said a report involving Spillman was filed on September 20, but declined to release further details of the allegations and what role Spillman may have played.
