June 19 (UPI) — American Airlines canceled hundreds of flights Tuesday involving a subsidiary carrier, due to a computer scheduling glitch that’s lasted for days.
Since late last week, about 2,500 flights at Ohio-based PSA Airlines have been canceled due to the issue, which involved crew scheduling.
PSA, one of American’s regional carriers, operates about 6,700 flights per day.
All PSA flights were canceled Tuesday morning, but the issue didn’t affect any American flights or those of its other regional carriers, the airline said in a statement.
American said Tuesday afternoon PSA had stabilized its systems and was working to return to a normal schedule.
“We understand that these cancellations have been frustrating for our customers, and teams from PSA and American have been working around the clock to get things back to normal as quickly as possible,” American said.
“We are rebooking passengers and American’s Customer Relations department continues to reach out all affected customers.”
American spokeswoman Katie Cody told The Charlotte Observer the airline was “incredibly sorry” for the canceled flights.
