June 27 (UPI) — Los Angeles Angels outfielder Michael Hermosillo made a great effort, but ended up falling over the fence instead of catching a home run by Boston Red Sox slugger Mookie Betts Tuesday.

The play came in the bottom of the first inning of the Red Sox’s 9-1 win against the Diamondbacks at Fenway Park in Boston.

Betts was at the plate and leading off the inning for the Red Sox. He sent John Lamb’s first offering — an 89.2 mph fastball — toward the right field fence. Hermosillo eyed the fly ball and raced back toward the warning track. It seemed as though he lost track of where he was on the field as he smacked into the outfield fence during a leaping attempt for the ball.

Hermosillo ultimately failed to glove the ball and fell over the wall in the process of the attempt.

Betts now has 20 home runs this season, including a Red Sox record 15 out of the leadoff spot. He went 1-for-3 with two runs scored, two walks and an RBI in Tuesday’s victory. Betts is now hitting .338 on the season. In addition to his 20 long balls, he also has 41 RBIs for the Red Sox.
