Anti-Macron demos draw 119,500 nationwide: French interior ministry

Paris (AFP) – Around 119,500 people took part in demonstrations across France Thursday over President Emmanuel Macron’s public sector reforms, the government said — a figure down sharply on the last such protests a month ago.

The interior ministry said 11,500 people marched in Paris — versus an estimate of 15,000 from the independent Occurence consultancy — and another 108,000 took part in protests in regional towns and cities.

Unions estimated the total turnout at nearly 300,000.
