Argentina stock market plunges 6.55 percent at the open

Buenos Aires (AFP) – The Buenos Aires Stock Exchange plunged 6.55 percent Monday, pulled down by sharp declines in prices for energy and bank shares.

The Merval Index dropped to 28,253 in opening trades, with energy stocks taking hits of up to 12 percent following the resignation of Energy Minister Juan Jose Aranguren.
