Armenian protests leader says to meet PM on Sunday

Yerevan (AFP) – Armenian anti-government protests leader Nikol Pashinyan said he would meet Sunday with Prime Minister and ex-president Serzh Sarkissian after nine days of mass demonstrations against what the  opposition says is a power-grab by the former president.

“I will meet Serzh Sarkissian to discuss the conditions of his resignation and of (a) peaceful transfer of power,” Pashinyan said in a video address published on his Facebook page. He said the meeting was scheduled for Yerevan’s Marriott hotel at 10 am (0600 GMT). Sarkissian’s office has not yet confirmed the meeting.
