Army taps Tecmotiv USA for tank engine overhauls

May 2 (UPI) — Tecmotiv USA has been awarded a contract from the U.S. Army for diesel powered engine.

The deal, announced Tuesday by the Department of Defense, is valued at more than $145.6 million under the terms hybrid cost-plus-fixed-fee and firm-fixed-price contract.

The contract from U.S. Army Contracting Command enables Tecmotiv USA for the “overhaul of the air cooled, V-engine configuration, diesel supercharged 1790-8CR and 1790-2DR engines,” according to the Defense Department.

Tecmotiv USA engines are outfitted in several different U.S. Army vehicles, including the, M48 and M60 Main Battle Tanks.

Work on the contract and the allocation of funds will be determined with each task order. The contract will expire in April 2023, the Pentagon said.
