June 29 (UPI) — Police and wildlife officials responded to a Connecticut home where a bear had made its way into the kitchen and raided the fridge.
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental protection said the bear pushed its way into the Barkhamsted home’s back door Thursday and walked right past the shocked homeowner and a child to get to the house’s kitchen.
The bear raided food from the refrigerator, counter tops and pantry, the homeowner said.
Connecticut State Police arrived just in time to see the bear exit the home and wander off through the neighborhood.
The state police lost track of the bear, but Environmental Conservation Police arrived and spotted a bear that may have been the same animal in the area.
EnCon officers used a bean bag round to drive the bear out of the area. No further action was taken against the animal.
No injuries were reported from the bear’s visit.
The incident came after the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection reported a bear was euthanized for entering a home in Torrington through a screen window.
