Black River Systems tapped for SIGINT software

May 10 (UPI) — Black River Systems has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Air Force for software in support of signals intelligence collection.

The deal, announced Wednesday by the Department of Defense, is valued at more than $9.3 million under the terms of a cost-plus-fixed-fee contract.

The contract from the Air Force Research Laboratory enables Black River Systems to provide the Software Defined Radio.

The Air Force said the software will further advance the “body of knowledge in the cyber domain” with the aim of gaining “real time collection, geolocation and signal exploitation” capabilities, according to the Defense Department.

Work on the contract will occur in Utica, N.Y., and is expected to be complete in May 2022.

More than $530,000 will be obligated to Black River Systems at time of award — the funds will be allocated from fiscal 2018 research, development, test and evaluation funds, the Pentagon said.
