Brazil’s Neymar negates Austrian defense with hesitation move

June 11 (UPI) — Neymar forced a defender to the ground with a hesitation move, before scoring in Brazil’s 3-0 Friendly win against Austria.

The score came in the 63rd minute Sunday at Ernst Happel Station in Vienna, Austria. Gabriel Jesus and Philippe Coutinho added the other goals for Brazil in the World Cup tuneup.

While Neymar’s finish might have been simple, but his setup was world-class. The Paris Saint-Germain forward received the ball from Willian on the left side of the box. He brought down the small chip with the inside of his right boot, before drawing the defense of Aleksandar Dragovic.

The right back squared up with Neymar, before the Brazilian pulled off a subtle slowdown with his right foot. Dragovic fell to the ground immediately. Neymar then slid the ball to his left foot with a lightning quick touch, before chipping a short shot over Heinz Linder for Brazil’s second goal.

Jesus put the Brazilians ahead in the 35th minute. He received the ball on the left side of the box after a shot from Marcelo. Jesus settled the rebound before taking a few dribbles. He then beat Linder with a shot into the far post netting.

Coutinho followed Neymar’s tally in the 68th minute. The Barcelona star started a smooth give-and-go with Roberto Firmino on the play, heeling the ball to the Liverpool star before getting it back on the left flank for a breakaway. Coutinho dusted the defense before also placing a score into the far post for Brazil’s final goal.

The Brazilians take on Switzerland to start the group stage of the 2018 World Cup at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rostov Arena in Rostov-on-Don, Russia.

Neymar is now third all-time in goals scored for Brazil, trailing on Ronaldo (62) and Pele (77).
