California deputy breaks window to rescue bear from Subaru

June 21 (UPI) — A California sheriff’s deputy was caught on camera breaking the window of a vehicle to rescue a bear that trapped itself inside.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office posted a video to Facebook showing Deputy Dave Lade carefully approaching the Subaru Outback, which had been parked near Lake Tahoe.

The sheriff’s office said the bear had gotten into the vehicle and destroyed the interior so severely that the doors couldn’t be unlocked.

The video, which the sheriff’s office embellished with bear sound effects, shows Lade smash a rear window, allowing the bear to climb out and run off.
