May 3 (UPI) — David Beckham shed tears of joy after son Brooklyn Beckham surprised him on his 43rd birthday.
The retired soccer star’s wife, designer and former Spice Girls singer Victoria Beckham, captured a cute video of David embracing Brooklyn after the 19-year-old unexpectedly flew in for his birthday.
The clip shows Brooklyn, who is attending college in New York, walk up to David’s table at a restaurant in London. David has an emotional reaction as he shares a long hug with Brooklyn, who asks his dad if he’s OK.
“The biggest surprise of the day…. Welcome home @brooklynbeckham X happy birthday @davidbeckham I love u so much x kisses,” Victoria captioned the post.
David said on Instagram that Brooklyn showing up was the “best birthday surprise.” Brooklyn wished David a happy birthday in a post on his own account.
“Happy birthday dad xx I love you to the moon and back,” he captioned a photo with his dad.
David and Victoria have Brooklyn, 15-year-old son Romeo, 13-year-old son Cruz and 6-year-old daughter Harper. The couple spent the evening before Victoria’s birthday with their four children in April.
“Birthday eve with my babies x love u so much @davidbeckham kisses x,” Victoria said at the time.
Brooklyn is studying photography at Parsons School of Design. David expressed his pride after dropping off Brooklyn at the school in August, saying, “Exciting times and hard work coming for this little man… Proud of you bust.”
