Eden Hazard’s two scores lead Chelsea over West Brom

Feb. 13 (UPI) — Midfielder Eden Hazard scored twice in Chelsea’s 3-0 win against West Brom.

The Blues beat the Baggies Monday at Stamford Bridge in London, England. Hazard scored his first goal in the 25th minute of the Premier League matchup.

That score involved a beautiful give-and-go with forward Olivier Giroud. Hazard received the ball with his back to the goal, while standing inside the box. He then dribbled out of the box, before turning and firing a pass to Giroud closer to the goal. Giroud kept a defender away from the ball by shielding him with his back. Hazard ran in toward goal in front of his teammate and received a tap. Hazard ripped a one-touch shot into the far post, beating West Brom keeper Ben Foster.

“When we get the ball, we know that the striker is there,” Hazard said, according to the Chelsea website. “It’s close to use because the manager wants the three in front to stay very close. You can see on the first goal we did pretty well.”

Chelsea’s next goal came after a bit of luck.

Defender Victor Moses dribbled toward the box before firing a pass to midfielder Cesc Fabregas. Fabregas heeled the ball into the box, but it was deflected by a defender. The deflection landed right at the feet of Moses, who used his left foot to bury another Chelsea goal in the 63rd minute.

Hazard’s last goal was an absolute scorcher.

Forward Alvaro Morata received the ball about 10 yards outside of the West Brom box. He turned his back toward the goal and fired a chip to the right corner for Hazard to run toward. Hazard danced around the defender, before pushing the ball to his left. He then ripped a shot from about 18 yards out, sinking it into the near post, while Foster could only watch on.

“When we play with good players, it’s easy,” Hazard said. “We don’t need to train together for two years. We know football is easy. You need to move and you need the ball. That’s it.”

Chelsea battles Hull City at 3 p.m. Friday at Stamford Bridge.
