WASHINGTON, April 15 (UPI) — The first trailer from Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn’s The Neon Demon shows Elle Fanning fighting back against an industry that scarred her.

Released Thursday, the clip begins with a hopeful Jesse (Fanning) getting a break into Hollywood’s modeling industry only to become consumed by the power the “it” girl status gave her.

Soon after, visually inciting images show an emotional and at-times murderous battle between Jesse and women who would do anything to have what she has.

“You know what my mother used to call me?” Fanning is heard saying in the trailer. “Dangerous…She was right. I am dangerous.”

The Neon Demon will screen at Cannes Film Festival this year. It also stars Keanu Reeves and Jena Malone. Director Refn is well known for his films Only God Forgives and Drive.
