Fiennes seeks to treat zombies in ’28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’

Dec. 3 (UPI) — Ralph Fiennes’ character in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple suggests he can treat the infection that creates zombies in a trailer for the film released Wednesday by Sony Pictures Entertainment.

The second trailer for the fourth film in the zombie apocalypse franchise finds Fiennes’ Dr. Ian Kelson encountering an infected person played by Chi Lewis-Parry, who appears to be somewhat more docile than other zombies. He’s seen injecting the man with a drug as he Fiennes, in voiceover, talks about the spread of the disease and collapse of society.

“I remember details, events and people,” he says. “The world had an order. The foundations, they seemed unshakeable.

“When the infected attack, what do they see?

“I believe the infection can be treated. And now … a leap into the unknown.”

The trailer also shows Kelson encountering Jimmy Crystal (Jack O’Connell), the leader of a cult-like gang who is attempting to bring Spike (Alfie Williams) into his fold.

“In the world of The Bone Temple, the infected are no longer that greatest threat to survival — the inhumanity of the survivors can be stranger and more terrifying,” a synopsis of the film reads.

The film is directed by Nia DaCosta, written and produced by Alex Garland, and produced by Danny Boyle, Andrew Macdonald, Peter Rice and Bernie Bellew. Also starring are Erin Kellyman, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Laird, Maura Bird and Academy Award-winner Cillian Murphy, who reprises his role as Jim from the original movie, 28 Days Later.

The film arrives in theaters Jan. 16.
