Fox cub rescued after fall from Wales cliff

May 11 (UPI) — Animal rescuers in Wales said a fox cub was rescued and is being rehabilitated after apparently falling off a cliff and wandering into a town.

The RSPCA said members of the public contacted the charity May 4 to report a young male fox was wandering through the town of Penarth with an apparent leg injury.

Witnesses were able to get the fox to a veterinary office in the town, where it was found to be suffering soft tissue damage and disorientation that led veterinarians to conclude he had likely fallen off a nearby cliff.

RSPCA Cymru rescuers transported the fox toVale Wildlife Hospital and Rehabilitation Center in Tewkesbury on Tuesday for further treatment and rehabilitation.

“We’re very grateful to the members of the public who found this poor fox cub. We fear the poor thing may have fallen from a Penarth cliff,” said Sian Burton, an RSPCA animal welfare officer.

Burton said rescuers are hopeful the fox will eventually be able to return to the wild.
