French fraud charges dropped against Russian billionaire Kerimov: lawyers

Nice (France) (AFP) – French authorities have dropped tax fraud charges against Russian billionaire Suleyman Kerimov, who was accused of illegally using middlemen to buy luxury villas on the Cote d’Azur.

“The legal arguments which we raised for dropping the charges against Mr Kerimov were welcomed and the indictment for laundering the proceeds of tax evasion was cancelled,” lawyers Jacqueline Laffont, Nikita Sichov and Pierre Haik said in a statement.
