Frightened Rabbit singer Scott Hutchison dead at 36

May 11 (UPI) — Scottish rock musician Scott Hutchison has died at the age of 36, his family and band confirmed Friday.

The singer and guitarist was reported missing early Wednesday and his body was discovered Thursday night in Port Edgar, Queensferry.

The cause of his death has not been disclosed, but a statement released by Police Scotland on behalf of Hutchison’s family said the musician had depression.

“Depression is a horrendous illness that does not give you any alert or indication as to when it will take hold of you,” the statement said. “We are immensely proud of (Scott) for being so open with his struggles. His willingness to discuss these matters in the public domain undoubtedly raised awareness of mental health issues and gave others confidence and belief to discuss their own issues.”

“There are no words to describe the overwhelming sadness and pain that comes with the death of our beloved Scott but to know he is no longer suffering brings us some comfort,” his bandmates Grant Hutchison, Billy Kennedy, Andy Monaghan and Simon Liddell tweeted Friday. “He will be missed by all of us and his absence will always be felt but he leaves a legacy of hope, kindness and colour that will forever be remembered and shared.”

The Hutchinson brothers and their band recently completed a 10th anniversary concert tour and were expected to go back out on the road again later this month.
