Hungary prosecutors appeal 25-year terms for migrant truck deaths

Kecskemét (Hungary) (AFP) – Hungarian prosecutors said Thursday they would appeal 25-year terms handed to four human traffickers over the deaths of 71 migrants in a truck in Austria in 2015, arguing the sentence was too lenient.

“The ruling does not sufficiently reflect the seriousness of the crime,” chief prosecutor Gabor Schmidt told the court. He had asked for life sentences.
