Hyena narrowly escapes sneak attack from angry baboon

Sept. 28 (UPI) — A man filming a hyena’s stroll down a South African road captured the moment the creature was abruptly chased away by a raging baboon.

The video, filmed Sept. 21, shows the hyena walking casually down the paved road in Kruger National Park.

“A hyena outside of Lower Sabie,” the filmer says in the video. “Thursday morning, 6:30 a.m.”

The hyena walks down the road for a few minutes before stopping to stare at something located off the road.

The creature takes a couple steps off the road before quickly turning and running in the opposite direction as an enraged baboon pursues it across the street.

The filmer said the hyena just barely managed to escape the baboon.

“The hyena got away by running down to the Sabie river which flows in front of the camp. He got away by the skin of his teeth,” the filmer wrote.
