Nov. 12 (UPI) — The Jacksonville Jaguars were a few plays away from reaching last year’s Super Bowl, but even a team with talent on both sides of the ball is not immune to trouble in the locker room.

Jacksonville (3-6) dropped their fifth consecutive game, and have lost six out of their last seven games after a setback to the once 1-5 Indianapolis Colts (4-5) on Sunday.

The Jaguars now sit at the bottom of the AFC South.

The frustrations have boiled over from the Jaguars’ current string of losses, including reports of players having to restrain one another after a loss to the Houston Texans on Oct. 21.

Now, star cornerback Jalen Ramsey has added to the uncertainty surrounding the team after sending out a mysterious message on Monday morning.

“When I’m gone from here, y’all gone miss me. I ain’t even trippin lol,” Ramsey tweeted, followed by a religious message.

While the context of Ramsey’s message has room for interpretation, one obvious meaning could be his time in Jacksonville is coming to a close.

Ramsey is in the third year of his rookie contract and has a base salary of about $2.6 million this season, according to Spotrac.

The Jaguars hold the rights to Ramsey through the 2020 season and can apply the franchise tag to him in the 2021 and 2022 season, should the opportunity present itself.

If the Jaguars’ struggles continue into next season, the outspoken Ramsey could always push for a trade in the offseason, much like Chicago Bears defensive end Khalil Mack in the deal with the Oakland Raiders.

Through nine games this season, Ramsey has 30 total tackles, four passes defensed and one interception. He has a Pro Football Focus rating of 68.4, ranking him as the No. 37 cornerback in the NFL this year.

Last season, Ramsey had 63 total tackles, 17 passes defensed and four interceptions. His PFF grade of 91.8 was the second-highest mark in the NFL behind Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Casey Hayward.
