‘Lethal Weapon’s’ Clayne Crawford to be recast pending renewal

May 9 (UPI) — Fox’s Lethal Weapon television adaptation will be replacing star Clayne Crawford as Martin Riggs if the police drama is renewed for a third season.

Crawford, who stars opposite Damon Wayans as Roger Murtaugh, has been fired from the series due to his unprofessional behavior on set, The Hollywood Reporter noted, citing sources.

Fox and studio Warner Bros. Television have begun searching for a new star to take Crawford’s place. The actor recently apologized on social media for two incidents that took place on set including getting angry at what he said was unsafe working conditions and a situation with another actor on set feeling unsafe after being hit by a piece of shrapnel in an episode he was directing.

He said he took responsibility for what happened due to being in charge. “I take great pride in treating everyone in life with dignity and kindness. I am very grateful for my job, and I work extremely hard at it. I feel a responsibility to do good work for my coworkers, for my family, for my home state, and most especially for the fans. I hope they will stick with me, and stick with the show,” he said at the time.

Wayans is said to have stopped talking to Crawford, due to the situation worsening on set in recent months, TV Line reported.

Fox’s decision on whether or not to continue Lethal Weapon may potentially be made by Monday when the company presents its fall lineup to advertisers in New York.
