May 25 (UPI) — Lil Nas X discussed the wardrobe malfunction he experienced on Saturday Night Live while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

On Saturday, the 22-year-old performed his song “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” on the sketch comedy series. Lil Nas X had to use his hand to cover up a hole that was created in his pants after he danced on a pole.

“I was pretty much going down the pole, doing my little sexy drop-down and boom, I feel air. I was like, ‘There is definitely a breeze going on.’ And I also felt like some popping still happening while I was down there,” Lil Nas X said about the incident on Monday to Fallon and his guest Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters.

“At the end of the performance the dancers are supposed to like touch me and tug on me or whatever. And they were tugging on the pants, I was like, ‘Please God no,'” he continued, before stating that he needed a towel in order to exit the SNL stage.

Fallon presented footage of the incident and of Lil Nas X’s rehearsal to show what the performance would have looked like if the wardrobe malfunction didn’t take place. Lil Nas X also praised his team of dancers who learned the routine in 24 hours after his original team had to sit the performance out due to a dancer testing positive for COVID-19.

“I want everybody who thought it was a publicity stunt to see that you know because it was not. I would never rip my pants in public on purpose,” Lil Nas X said.

“Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” will appear on Lil Nas X’s upcoming album titled Montero, that is set to be released this summer.
