Malta will send supplies to stranded migrant ship: PM

Valletta (AFP) – Malta will send supplies to hundreds of migrants on a ship stranded in the Mediterranean, after denying it the right to dock in its ports, the country’s prime minister said Monday.

“Malta is going to send fresh supplies to the ship. It will be necessary to sit down and discuss how to prevent this kind of thing from happening in the future,” Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said in a tweet.

Malta and the new populist government in Italy have each refused to let the Aquarius with 629 migrants on board dock in their ports, but Spain has agreed to let it come to port in Valencia.
