Sept. 25 (UPI) — Milo Ventimiglia says he’s “very happy” about TV wife Mandy Moore’s real-life engagement.

The 40-year-old actor had nothing but praise for his 33-year-old This is Us co-star and her fiancé, singer Taylor Goldsmith, in an interview with Moore and Sterling K. Brown on Monday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

“I didn’t get asked for her hand in marriage as like TV husband, but at the same time, I was okay with it,” Ventimiglia jokingly said to host Ellen DeGeneres. “It was fine.”

“Taylor, he’s the kindest soul, and Mandy, she’s like the most beautiful of human beings. So the two of them coming together, it’s right and it’s good. We’re all very happy for you,” he told Moore.

Ventimiglia and Moore play spouses Jack and Rebecca Pearson on This is Us. Moore said Goldsmith, the frontman of the band Dawes, has met Ventimiglia, Brown and the rest of her castmates.

“Everybody’s very close. Everyone’s significant others and whatnot, we’re like one big family, we really are. As cheesy and gross as that sounds, we all really love each other,” the actress gushed.

This is Us will premiere a second season Tuesday on NBC. Moore teased the show’s return last week on Instagram by posting a throwback photo of Jack and Rebecca and a picture with Ventimiglia, Brown, Chrissy Metz and Justin Hartley on set.

“Can’t wait to show you where we’re headed in season 2… and where we’re headed BACK to,” the actress wrote.

“I’m probably gonna get in trouble for posting this but come on! #fbf to some time with the fam a few weeks ago. #thisisus,” she added.
