Nasdaq surges to end at record; Dow edges lower

New York (AFP) – The Nasdaq surged to a fresh record Thursday, boosted by higher media shares, as traders shrugged off trade-war worries amid signs of accelerating US growth.

At the closing bell, the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index was up 0.9 percent to 7,762.16, its second record in three days.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 0.1 percent to 25,181.49, while the  broad-based S&P 500 climbed 0.3 percent to 2,782.83.
