Nov. 19 (UPI) — The Washington Nationals have agreed to a two-year contract with free agent catcher Kurt Suzuki.

Sources informed MLB.com of the signing on Monday.

Suzuki, 35, hit .271 with 12 home runs and 50 RBIs in 105 games last season for the Atlanta Falcons. The 2014 All-Star made his Major League Baseball debut in 2007 with the Oakland Athletics. He has also suited up for the Washington Nationals and Minnesota Twins during his 12-year tenure.

Catcher Matt Wieters — who joined the Nationals in 2017 — is a free agent this offseason. The four-time All-Star hit .238 with eight home runs and 30 RBIs in 76 games this season for the Nationals.

Suzuki’s deal is pending a physical and has not been confirmed by the team. Suzuki owns a .258 career batting average and has 114 career home runs in 1,394 games.
