LOS ANGELES, April 13 (UPI) — New Girl will return for a sixth season on Fox.

Fox Entertainment president David Madden announced the news in a press release Tuesday, one month after the sitcom celebrated its 100th episode, “Goosebumps Walkaway.”

“Every network comedy should aspire to what [series creator] Liz Meriwether is achieving in New Girl, with its bravura dialogue, inventive and witty performances by the talented cast and emotionally engaging storytelling,” Madden lauded.

“The series is as creatively strong today as it ever was, we want to congratulate New Girl on reaching its milestone 100th episode and we can’t wait for the next subversive and hilarious chapter of these characters’ lives,” he added.

Fox also announced Megan Fox and Damon Wayans, Jr., will return as Reagan and Coach in Season 5. Additional guest stars include Nasim Pedrad, Sonequa Martin-Green, Kal Penn, Rob Riggle and Meghan Rath.

Zooey Deschanel later confirmed herself, Jake Johnson, Lamorne Morris, Max Greenfield and Hannah Simone for Season 6 by sharing a photo of the group on Twitter. She captioned the picture, “It’s official! #NewGirl is coming back for season 6!”

New Girl Season 5 premiered in January and airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET. The series follows the personal and professional lives of a group of thirty-somethings who live together in a Los Angeles loft.
