Nicaragua bishops move to restart crisis talks on Friday

Managua (AFP) – Nicaragua’s influential Catholic bishops said they will convene opposing government and civil representatives on Friday in a bid to revive talks aimed at ending a crisis that’s left 152 dead.

At the 10:00 am meeting bishops said they will present a mediation proposal they gave to embattled President Daniel Ortega as well as his long-awaited response, which they would “submit to debate to seek a consensus that answers the people’s longing for justice, democratization and peace.”
