Panama orders Venezuela ambassador out, recalls own envoy from Caracas

Panama City (AFP) – Panama on Thursday ordered Venezuela’s ambassador out of the country and recalled its own envoy to Caracas in an escalating diplomatic row.

Panama’s foreign ministry announced the degradation in diplomatic ties in a statement.

It followed tit-for-tat sanctions between Panama and Venezuela against a backdrop of increasing Latin American and US moves to isolate Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his government.
