Jan. 19 (UPI) — Party of Five creators Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman are working with Sony Pictures Television and Freeform on a reboot of their beloved 1990s drama.

The new version of the young-adult series “will follow the five Buendias children as they navigate daily life struggles to survive as a family unit after their parents are suddenly deported back to Mexico,” a news release said.

Keyser and Lippman are penning the pilot and will executive produce it alongside Rodrigo Garcia, who is set to direct.

No casting has been announced yet.

The original series ran 1994 to 2000. Starring Matthew Fox, Scott Wolf, Neve Campbell, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Lacey Chabert, it focused on the five Salinger siblings — ages 1 to 24 — as they worked to stay together after their parents were killed in a car crash.
