Peru lawmakers void suspension of Kenji Fujimori, will vote again: official

Lima (AFP) – Peru’s Congress has voided the suspension of lawmaker Kenji Fujimori and will vote again on whether to sanction him for corruption, its president said Thursday.

Luis Galaretta cited errors in the voting system when estimating the quorum needed to approve the suspension.

Congress suspended Fujimori for corruption late Wednesday but lacked a quorum to ban him from political office, as he battles with his sister for control of their father’s political dynasty.
