Polls open in Turkey’s legislative, presidential elections

Istanbul (AFP) – Polls opened on Sunday in Turkey’s snap presidential and parliamentary elections seen as the biggest test at the ballot box for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of his 15 years in power.

Polling stations opened at 0500 GMT and were due to close at 1400 GMT, with the first results expected late in the evening. Over 56 million Turks are eligible to vote nationwide.
